Commercial strategy for European space and deep-tech, grounded in independent research.

Hugo van de Haar
Based in the Netherlands, working across Europe

I write The Demand Side, an independent research publication on purchasing in European space, and work with space and deep-tech teams on their commercial positioning.

I studied Entrepreneurship & Retail Management at Windesheim, with a business minor at Nord University in Norway. My experience includes work on digital customer journeys, marketing and international partnerships, alongside several years of project coordination and retail auditing.

My interest in space centres on its commercial development: what customers buy, how contracts are awarded and what leads to a repeat order. I have completed coursework in Space Law for New Space Actors through UNOOSA and Understanding the Space Economy through EUSPA.

I publish sources and methods so readers can examine the evidence. In client work, I help you choose a buyer segment, develop the offer and write the material for prospective customers. You work directly with me.

I contribute research to the SGAC Commercial Space Project Group and am a member of ECSECO, the European Centre for Space Economy and Commerce. I am also Communications Coordinator at Cosmos for Humanity, a non-profit for sustainability in space.
